Harold Drew “Bud” Owen, Jr., of Edmond, passed from this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2019 at the age of 67.

Born on January 25, 1952 to the late Harold “Drew” Owen, Sr. and Betty Jo Owen, Bud inherited a love of the outdoors and conservation from his dad and became an avid sportsman and lifelong advocate for conservation. He was a past president of the Oklahoma Wild Turkey Federation and the United Sportsman's Alliance.

Bud graduated from John Marshall High School before serving in the 45th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. After returning from the army, Bud attended Central State University and went to work in the insurance industry for most of his adult life. Most recently, Bud worked as a field landman and was self-employed as a security officer and private investigator.

Bud married his wife, Hope, in January of 1981. Bud and Hope shared over 39 years of love and dedicated their lives to one another and their two children, Lindsey and Hunter. Bud was proud of his family and loved talking and bragging about his children and grandkids. As his kids were growing up, he could be found on a field coaching one of their teams or cheering them on from the sidelines. Many of the kids he coached looked up to him as a mentor and they stayed close with him over the years. In addition, Bud was an accomplished hunter who was passionate about his bird dogs. Some of his happiest times were spent afield with his faithful companions Ranger, Ernie, Candy, Rocky, and Bear. Bud was also a loyal friend and loved helping others who were down on their luck.

Bud is survived by his wife, Hope Owen, his children, Lindsey Fixley (Tyler), and Hunter Owen, his brother, Mike Owen, his sister, Teresa McDaniels, his grandchildren, Maxwell and Olivia, numerous nieces, nephews, and his German shorthair Jack. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Bud lived life to the fullest and always focused on the positive. That is not to say he always expected life to turn out perfectly. As we say goodbye, he would want us to focus on the good memories. These parting words will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all those who loved Bud, “Love you. See you. Bye.”

Visitation is from 2:00-8:00pm, Sunday at Baggerley Funeral Home. Funeral Services are 12:00 pm, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, with interment at the Wetumka Cemetery.

Dear Lindsey and Hunter,
Years ago , I worked with your father and he was one of my favorites. I loved his love of you and your family, he was so happy for each of you and your future. He loved that you were both smart and kind.
The other part of our time was to always hear of his love for the outdoors, his latest hunt and newest recipe for something! My deepest condolences to each of you and your family.
Go forth in the world knowing that you were loved and cherished by a marvelous man. I am out of town today and am sorry to miss the service, I will wear my “camo” shoes in memory of him today! Kathi

Today I’m burying my best friend, Bud Owen. I have many memories from hunting, camping, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, raising our families and just everyday life.

He could remember and tell jokes like no other.

He was as strong in his faith and convictions. I would not be the hunter I am today or even the man I am had it not been for Bud.

He loved his family. He was proud of Lindsey and Hunter, always bragging about them. Bud loved Hope dearly. Bud was so important in my life, he was even my daughter Kristie’s Godfather.

We saw and shared many sunrises and sunsets; together traveling to and from our hunting adventures. Sometimes, stopping to eat BBQ.

Bud loved, raised and hunted over several really good bird dogs. The man could shoot a rifle and shotgun better than anyone. I personally witnessed many unbelievable shots. We hunted doves, quail, deer, pheasant, turkey, elk, wild hogs, coyotes...just to name a few.

Bud would show up at a moments notice anytime I needed help. He had many friends that kept in touch with him.

Bud Owen, I will miss you and I thank you for always being my TRUE FRIEND.

Love you.
