

Joni was born on June 11, 1936, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Robert Adams Westcott, Sr. and Janet Sprackling who preceded her in death.
She attended Lincoln School in Providence, and graduated from Katonah High School in 1954. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1958 from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College.
Growing up, she participated in field hockey, basketball, cheerleading, theater, choir, journalism and science.
She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She married Robert Keller Hartig, "Bob," (1934 — 2015) from Dearborn, Michigan, and Lehigh University in 1958. Bob worked for the Shell Oil Company.
They lived in East Alton, Illinois; Washington Township, New Jersey; Nassau Bay, Texas; Danville, California; Metairie, Louisiana; Houston, Texas; Marietta, Ohio and Kingwood, Texas.
Joni and Bob traveled with their children all around the United States. Bob took an early retirement which afforded them the ability to travel all around the world for the next twenty-five years. They visited more than ninety-nine countries and especially enjoyed their time on numerous safaris in Africa.
Apart from traveling, Joni was keenly interested in interior decorating, cooking, and theater. She continued studying at universities about anthropologies, histories, arts and sociologies of diverse cultures in the world. She was also an avid photographer.
Joni devoted much of her time and energy as a mother to her family members. She was an expert at planning events and a gracious host at all the parties she threw.
She is survived by her sisters Juliana Westcott Kelley, of Henderson, Nevada; Jeanie Westcott Akers, of McLean, Virginia; and Marcy Westcott Marchiano, of Katonah, New York. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Adams Westcott, Jr., of Bellevue, Washington.
She is survived by her daughter, Juliana Hartig Cormack, of Yukon, Oklahoma; her son, Thomas William Hartig, of Beverly Hills, California; and her grandchildren Alexander, Emily, Elizabeth and Keller.
A memorial service will be held at Epworth Villa, 14901 N Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134, on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm. Her ashes will be scattered near her home in Fosters Mill Village, Kingwood, Texas.
