Jarrold was born October 2, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Samuel Ross and Owana Jane (Parks) Stephens. The family moved to Edmond in 1961 where Jarrold graduated from high school in 1963.
In 1973, Jarrold began working at the City of Edmond in the Sanitation Department. He held various positions within the same department before retiring with 39 years of service in 2012.
Jarrold learned to play the guitar when he was a teenager and went on to be an incredibly talented and gifted musician and had an exceptionally good singing voice. The music he loved was the old-time country songs of the 20's, 30's, and 40's and Gospel, and Bluegrass music. He was in a singing group called The Gospel Singing Doves in the 70's. He also loved attending the Guthrie Bluegrass Festival every year.
In 1986, he met and married the love of his life, Maxine Fry of Guthrie. Jarrold and Maxine helped a man sell honey and vegetables at the Edmond Farmer's Market. They did this for years.
In 1991, while working at the City of Edmond, he performed an act of courage when he and another City Worker responded to an extremely critical situation involving a 20-month-old child who was being attacked and mauled by a dog. Without regard for his own safety, he jumped the fence, grabbed the child, and passed him over to the other worker. He was commended for his selfless act that went beyond the call of duty and literally risked life and limb to help this child.
In 1999, Jarrold joined the First Baptist Church of Edmond, where he immediately got involved with and loved the Senior Adult Happytimers and became a beloved greeter.
Jarrold loved Jesus, his family, his friends, and his church. He was a faithful member and never missed a chance to be at church. Jarrold will always be known for his happy, friendly, never met a stranger, demeanor. He always had a smile on his face and loved everyone, and everyone loved him. He loved to laugh, and he could laugh just as much, at himself.
He is survived by his sister, Sheila Everett, of Edmond, and brother-in-law, Jack. He was loved by many step-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends, too numerous to count.
A come-and-go visitation for Jarrold will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.
