JoAnn was the only child of Don and Wilma Wood of Claremore, Oklahoma. After graduating from Claremore High School, she attended Oklahoma State University. She left after one year to marry her husband Laymond “Bo” Loyd. They had been married 50 years when her husband (Laymond) died in 2011. They had two sons: Brent and Don Loyd.
Her firstborn son Brent died in accident at age 18. Shortly after the tragedy the Lord drew her back into the Church. The Lord used her gift of faith to draw her husband into the Church. JoAnn and Laymond were part of Faith Bible Church in Edmond since the early 1980s. She attended after her husband's death in 2011 until her Pompe disease (a rare genetic muscular disease) limited her mobility. Despite the disease's progression of breathing difficulty and muscle weakness, she was able to live independently in the home she had shared with Laymond up until the end of her life.
JoAnn loved to paint and spent many hours every week on her art. She loved and adored (and bragged excessively) about her three grandchildren as well as her three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son Don and his wife Shawna Loyd, grandchildren India Jones (Ryan), Grey (Abby) Loyd, Sydney Loyd, great-grandchildren Elliot, Blaise and Sage Jones.
The family is truly grateful to the many friends and family members who have stayed in contact, helped, visited, and been a blessing to JoAnn over these past few years. We are most thankful that her gift of faith from the Lord never wavered.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm Sunday November 1st at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond with Dr. Steven Bryan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, http://www.mda.org/
