John L. Wright Sr.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis Wright of Edmond, OK; son, John Leslie Wright Jr. and daughter-in-law Melody Wright; daughter, Janienne Bella and son-in-law Tony Bella; grandchildren, Cooper Wright, Cale Wright and Blake Bella all of Edmond, OK; his sisters, Linda Fix and brother-in-law John Fix of La Porte, IN; Patricia Querry and brother-in-law Roger Querry of Francesville, IN.

He is preceded in death by his parents William Wright of Cayuga, IN and Iris Spencer Wright Page and step-father Eugene Page of Francesville, IN; sister Karen Wright of Francesville, IN. John was born on August 11, 1943 in Danville, IL to William and Iris Wright. He married Ruth Davis, his high school sweetheart on March 15, 1964 and they were married 53 years. Upon high school graduation, he began a 52 year career with Trinity Industries. He enjoyed a lengthy railcar manufacturing career in Indiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The couple raised two children, J. and Janienne, in Edmond, OK. His children and grandchildren remember him as a genuine, ornery and thoughtful soul who loved spending time fishing, golfing, cooking and hanging out with family.

John was extremely knowledgeable in welding and steel fabrication and was known by his willingness to teach others. He was generous with his time, witty with his humor and a father figure to many.

The family will be receiving visitors at Baggerley Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and a service to celebrate his life will be Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 11:00 am, at Acts 2 United Methodist Church at 4848 W Covell Road, Edmond, OK 73012 with a luncheon following. Reverend Mark Foster will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life.
