Juanita Joy Stewart

She was born in Crescent, Oklahoma, daughter of Dee and Eula Wright. Her journey with Christ started at 8 years of age, when she gave her heart to Jesus in the First Baptist Church in Crescent. In her early teenage years, she became a pianist and organist, and taught Sunday school until leaving for college at Oklahoma Baptist University. After her sophomore year of college, she was offered a summer job at the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in the Infectious Disease Section which became her career, retiring after 28 years as Administrative Assistant.

She married the love of her life, Wayne Stewart, December 11, 1959, at Evangel Assembly. She was the organist and Wayne became the Minister of Music at Evangel. Out of this ministry the Midstate Singers was organized, consisting of Wayne, Juanita, Harold Price, Pat Parker, Roy Berkley, and their son David Stewart on the drums. They travelled together for 18 years to many churches and several states. After retiring from travelling, they served as Ministers of Music at Cathedral of the Hills (Spring Creek Assembly of God) from 1986-1990. Since 2008, they have been hosting and ministering “The Friday Night Gathering” at Spring Creek. The Gathering was enjoyed the 2nd Friday night of each month, having potluck, fellowship, and then singing hymns from the Hymnal. They were also active in the Messenger Sunday School class.

She loved spoiling her family, making their favorite foods (homemade noodles, vegetable beef stew, and caramel popcorn), buying special gifts for Christmas and making their birthdays a special occasion.

She loved hosting friends in their home, encouraging one another and enjoying DVD’s and Gospel Music.

She is predeceased by her parents, Dee and Eula Wright, and brother Merle Wright.

She is survived by her beloved husband Wayne, son David and wife Lisa, grandson Scott, grandson Nathan and wife Jennifer, and great granddaughters Ainsley and Adalynn Joy, and a host of relatives and friends

Funeral services for Juanita Stewart will be held Saturday, January 6. 2024 at 2:00 PM at Spring Creek Assembly of God, 1600 E. 15th Street Edmond, OK. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation for Juanita will be Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
