Kay was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma then moved to Edmond, where she went to high school at Edmond Memorial, the Bulldogs! After high school she worked for Farm Bureau 49 years until her retirement as a Supervisor of Word Processing. Kay was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, her faith in Christ is what guided her heart and carried her through life.
One of Kay’s favorite times of the year was Christmas, as she always decorated her home and yard to perfection, and received joy from the gift giving. She loved her “junk and stuff and things” as she would say, and a regular Affair of the Heart, getting many of us in trouble with her motto, “you see, you like, you buy, because we’re here today and gone tomorrow.” She liked pretty things and loved to make ordinary things pretty. On any given day in the summer you would find her out in the yard tending to her flowers and yard, that she so enjoyed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruby, brothers Ernest and Larry. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, who were her children; Regina, Carla, Ernie, Terri, Chris, sister-in-law Sharlyn; the family wishes to express their deep appreciation to long coworker and friend Buddy.
She always took time to give her undivided attention to those she loved, as if nothing else mattered, when with her. We thank God for the gift of her life and for the gift of memories that may never pass away. She leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship to those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association- Oklahoma City Office at www.alz.org
A graveside service for Kay will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Gracelawn Cemetery, 1407 N. Blvd, Edmond, OK.
