Kimberly Faye "Kim" Long, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adoring Nana and Mambie, and beloved friend. Kim's journey began on January 16, 1959, in the warm embrace of Hobbs, NM, as the precious daughter of Carl DeWayne Freeman and Nita Faye Freeman (McDaniel). Shortly thereafter, she found her lifelong home in Edmond, OK, where her spirit would blossom and touch countless lives.
On June 14, 1980, Kim joined hands in marriage with her soulmate, James Steven "Steve" Long, in a bond of love that endured for 44 beautiful years, blessing them with three wonderful daughters: Amber, Scarlett, and Jessica. Together, they created a haven of love and laughter in Crescent, OK, a place filled with cherished memories and the echoes of family joy.
Kim's life was a testament to strength and resilience. Despite battling cancer for two decades, her spirit remained unbroken, her love unwavering. She pursued her passion for nursing, earning a bachelor's degree and touching the lives of many with her compassionate care and gentle touch.
In the tapestry of Kim's life, red threads intertwined with melodies of her favorite music, from the haunting beauty of "Sound of Silence" by Disturbed to the timeless classics of the Beatles and the enchanting tunes of Lindsey Sterling. Her perfect day found her by the shore, her feet sinking into warm sand, her heart light as the breeze that danced around her.
But above all, Kim's greatest joy lay in her family. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of her days, their laughter the sweetest melody to her ears. She adored them beyond measure, embodying the essence of unconditional love and selflessness. To her daughters, she imparted the invaluable lessons of love, compassion, and strength, shaping them into the remarkable women they are today.
Kim's legacy is one of boundless love and unwavering devotion. She will forever be remembered as the epitome of a loving Nana and Mambie, whose every action was guided by the desire to see her grandchildren smile. Her warmth, her laughter, and her love will continue to illuminate the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be welcomed in Heaven by her father Carl DeWayne Freeman, mother Nita Faye Freeman and brother Darrell DeWayne Freeman. Kim leaves behind her devoted husband, Steve, her beloved daughters, Amber Long, Scarlett Long, and Jessica Schrameck and husband Michael, and a legacy of love carried forth by her seven cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Kyra Brittan Faye, River Gregory Leon Crick, Forrest Tristan DeWayne Crick, Sunny James Freelon Crick, Coal Jonathan Jesse Carnes, Emma Brooke Schrameck, Kate Noelle Schrameck, Ivy Scarlett Rose Long, Ivan Steven DeWayne Long, and Jasper Jacobe-River.
