Leath was born November 8, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Leath and Blanche Parker, who both proceeded him in death. He had a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, which he proudly earned as an adult after raising his two oldest children. He owned a Haagen-Dazs ice cream shop with his father-in-law for many years and spent most of his career in sales. He also built a successful career as the head of commercial sales for Consolidated Builders Supply (CBS). In recent years, he worked alongside his son, James, at his State Farm Agency. He was very proud of the years he spent working with his son.
A devout Catholic and active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Leath was involved in ministries and volunteer work throughout the church. His presence will be missed and there will be big shoes to fill.
Leath and Ann Parker were married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Ann was the love of his life, and he often said one of his only regrets was not finding her sooner. They shared a great love that was evident to everyone around them. Leath had three children: Kimberly (Bobi), James (Kelsey), and Sarah (Mark). He was also so proud of his five grandsons: Luka Leath, Jonah, Matea, Aiden, and Brooks Leath.
Leath can be best described as “always being there.” He raised his two oldest children as a single Dad and showed up to every single event in which they participated as children. He continued to be a committed grandparent, loved and admired by his grandsons. He would travel to Norman for baseball games or to Kentucky to visit his grandsons. They always knew how important they were to him, and he always finished every conversation with “I love you and will see you soon.”
In addition, he was always at church, volunteering above and beyond, and helping with anything that was needed. He brought communion to the homebound and was always the first to lend a friend a helping hand. He also loved going to Lake Eufaula; he had been going there since he was sixteen. His friends at the lake were like a second family to him. There is simply no way to quantify all the ways he was there for so many. His loss will be felt widely and profoundly.
On Monday, July 14 at 6:00 pm, a wake will be held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, with a reception to follow. In addition, on Tuesday, July 15, a funeral will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond at 11:00 am.
