

Lisa Alane (Davenport) Lavender of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed on from this world on February 22, 2011 at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas, where she had recently received a heart transplant. She now joins her two sisters, Lexie and Tricia Davenport with their God in heaven.
Lisa was born in Dallas, Texas on July 24, 1961 to loving parents Pat and David Davenport. Lisa graduated from Heritage Hall in 1979. In 1984 she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and later received her masters in adolescent counseling from Central State University. She taught preschool and first grade and counseled in the Edmond school system until moving to Colorado Springs in 1998. While in Colorado, Lisa became a “court appointed special advocate” in which she was able to continue to pursue her passion of helping children in need.
Lisa will be remembered forever by her family and friends for her incredible kindness and compassion for all of God’s critters, both two legged and four legged; for her extraordinary courage and bravery, her love for teaching children and her absolutely indomitable spirit. She devoted her life to her family and friends and was constantly looking for ways to better the lives of those around her. Lisa was and always will be admired for her fabulous smile and undefeatable optimism.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alexis Alane Lavender and Lindsey Hope Lavender, her seven dogs and two horses, parents Pat and David Davenport, brother Mark Davenport, two nieces, Ashley and Christina Davenport, and a very special grandmother Jewel Splawn. Lisa will be missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends across the United States.
Services will be held Saturday, February 26 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Oklahoma City and internment will be at Memorial Park in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lisa’s memory to the Heart Exchange at St. Lukes Hospital, 6720 Bertner Avenue, #MC4-129, Houston, Texas 77030 or to the ASPCA, Attention Linda Tiramani, 520 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
Special memorial services are planned for Lisa’s friends in both Houston, Texas and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
