As a young girl, Florence had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and learning about different subjects. Even as a young child, she made being peaceful with those around her as a top priority, by not engaging in conflict but by going into the community and helping those in need. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Florence was an active child who took part in extracurricular activities like high jumping and running track. In her spare time, she liked to volunteer to help out at local hospitals and churches. A typical teenager, Florence had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Florence's memorable achievements included excelling as a scholar in mathematics. However, to Florence, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her family and friends.
In 1980, while working at the Royal Hospital as an accountant in Aba, Abia State in Nigeria, Florence met the love of her life, Chief JohnKing Ezeala Jr. who was a young police officer. The two fell in love and later had their traditional marriage the same year. In 1981, her husband bid her farewell as he traveled to the United States and in 1982, they were reunited as Florence soon joined him. Chief & Florence exchanged matrimonial vows at St. Monica's Catholic Church for their white wedding in Edmond, Oklahoma. Florence worked hard to be a good mother to her children, and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Florence was blessed with two children. Her son, Prince Oyoyo Ezeala and her daughter Queena Adaeze Ezeala (Nee) Ugochukwu. Empathic and loyal, Florence was committed to making her new family happy. Another grand blessing for Florence was the gift of three grandchildren, Kingston, Princeton, and Sovereign Ugochukwu.
Florence enjoyed her college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Florence was able to master the balancing act. She earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Langston University. She also pursued graduate school, earning her Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling also from Langston University in 2011. Florence achieved high honors her outstanding merit and accomplishment as a student and awarded Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.
Fortunately, Florence enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Florence worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was Professional Counseling. Florence always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Florence enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were ministry in the church. Florence’s faith was important to her. She was a Christian and loved God! During that time, she served in the choir, prayer ministry and as a matron. She was an avid evangelist inside and outside of the church and did not stop until everyone knew of Jesus and his miraculous works. She enjoyed singing in the choir and praise and worship. To know Florence is to know her cooking. She was a chef and made her home a place where everyone was welcome, and everyone had to eat. Serving others was in her blood and feeding her loved ones and friends gave her pure joy.
Throughout her life, Florence was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her later years, Florence was an active associate member of the Nigeria Association, People's Club of Nigeria Inc. - DFW Branch, and the EDU Ekwe Development Union - USA.
