Margaret Sharon Aniol passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Margaret Sharon Eads Aniol was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on September 13, 1947. Her parents were a veteran of Guadalcanal and a Dust Bowler from West Texas. By the time she was 18, she had seen much of the world, spending her childhood on Army bases.
After graduating from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas, she moved to California, where she studied at the University of California, Long Beach. There she met and married William “Bill” Copeland, and together they had two children, Lance and Kimberly.
After moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, Margaret worked as a telephone operator by night and a model by day. She appeared in various local print publications and even spent a brief period modeling in New York. While in Albuquerque, she met and married Coleman Daniel “Pete” Stephens Jr. They had two children, Jennifer and Bryan.
Margaret later moved to Elmore City, Oklahoma, where she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s company for many years while maintaining their family farm. She loved gardening, canning, cooking, flowers, animals, and sewing. She made all of her daughters’ prom and special-occasion dresses — a maker long before the maker movement became popular.
She was also very active in the Republican Party, attending several national conventions. In 1988, she served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in New Orleans, and one of her proudest moments was attending Ronald Reagan’s first inauguration in 1980.
Margaret was deeply involved in Masonic organizations. She was a Past Matron of the Elmore City Eastern Star, a Past Bethel Guardian of Lone Grove Bethel #8, and a Past Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters of Oklahoma.
In the early 2000s, she moved to Oklahoma City to work for AT&T, where she met and later married Robert Ralph Aniol. They lived out their golden years on his farm in North Edmond, where Margaret raised peacocks and guineas — over 100 birds in all — selling them to customers across the United States. Her birds were her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to share photos of them.
After a devastating fire in 2022, Margaret and Robert moved into town and bought their dream home. Margaret lived a full and exciting life and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her son Lance Copeland, and husbands Coleman Daniel “Pete” Stephens Jr. and Robert “Ralph” Aniol.
She is survived by her daughters Kimberly Michelle Candelario and husband Modesto, Jennifer Dawn Babb and husband Charlie, and son Bryan Richeson Stephens and wife Stephanie; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
