She was born April 8, 1935, daughter of the late Boyd and Mary (Dalton) Hearn in Greenwood, Arkansas. She is survived by 3 brothers, Charles Hearn of Fort Smith AR, Jerry Hearn of Bryant AR, and David Hearn of Greenwood AR, and a sister Ellen Ione Elmore of Greenwood, AR. She was predeceased by her eldest brother, Kendrick Hearn of Benton, AR.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clarence Rodgers Moore of Edmond, OK; her daughters Rebecca Ann Moore of Edmond OK, Mary Kathryn (Andrew) Platt of Oldwick, NJ; and son, Clarence Rodgers Moore Jr. of Clearwater, FL; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Luan worked in the Engineering department at McDonnel Douglas in Tulsa, OK while her husband was in flight school. They relocated to Nashville, TN and then Memphis, TN, where they settled to raise their children. Her passion was being a homemaker. She led a life of activism, beginning at Knight Road Elementary School where she was the president of the PTA. Upon annexation of her neighborhood into Memphis, she successfully led the crusade for street lights, sidewalks, and traffic lights in the area. Luan was a Sunday school teacher at Parkway Village Baptist Church, gained her realtors license, and became an avid genealogist, historian, design enthusiast, bowler, and creative story writer.
Upon her husband’s retirement they moved back to their home of Fort Smith AR, where she became engrossed in genealogy and history. She was the past president of the South Sebastion County Historical Society and editor of the Key Magazine. She was also instrumental in the restoration of the Greenwood Jail Museum and the donation and relocation to Greenwood, AR of the Vineyard Cabin built by Charles Blaylock, 1848. She was a life member and former officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In 2012 Luan and Rodgers relocated to Edmond OK, where she continued her interests in gardening, grandchildren, genealogy and creative writing.
