Elizabeth was born on November 4, 1930, in McLean County, Illinois, to William Hayden and Thelma Cross.
She graduated from St. Francis Grade School and High School in Loretto, Kentucky, in 1949. Following high school, Elizabeth worked as a beautician until her marriage. She then devoted herself to raising her family as a homemaker before later returning to the beauty profession as her children grew older.
Elizabeth spent the first 30 years of her life in Kentucky before moving with her family to Oklahoma in 1960. She made her home in Shidler, where she lived for more than 60 years and became a beloved member of the community.
A woman of deep faith, Elizabeth was a devoted member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shidler and faithfully served in the Altar Society for many years. Her Catholic faith guided every aspect of her life, and she saw all people as children of God.
Elizabeth found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved flowers, especially Irises. She enjoyed listening to country and western music, bluegrass, and big band classics. She treasured gathering with close friends for weekly bridge games and other card games, where laughter and conversation were always plentiful.
Elizabeth married Gerald C. Treat in 1959, and together for forty-six years they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
More than anything, Elizabeth loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and encouragement.
Those who knew Elizabeth will remember her for her warm and friendly nature. She could strike up a meaningful conversation with just about anyone and had a gift for making people feel welcomed and valued. She selflessly gave of herself throughout her life so that her children would have every opportunity to succeed.
Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love for her family and friends, kindness, generosity, and a life lived in service to others. Her feisty spirit, compassionate heart, and steadfast devotion to God will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving parents, husband Gerald C. Treat, sister Louise Thomas, and brother-in-law Joseph Orville Thomas, nephew Greg Thomas, and niece Terri Jo Phelps.
