Matthew Crawford passed away on April 14, 2016. Matt was a gentle giant with a compassionate heart to match his size and a dear friend to many. Matt was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and graduated from Medford High School in Medford, Oklahoma. Matt went on to play basketball at Northern Oklahoma College and the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. After college, Matt found an interest in team handball and with some practice Matt made the U.S. National team, but due to an injury Matt missed out on his Olympic dreams.
Matt never had a true profession. He did anything he wanted, from working the starting gates at Remington Park for many years, to managing multiple horse ranches in the Edmond area, to most recently working to promote several members of Discovery Channels Street Outlaws.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Rolland and Francis Johnson of Medford, Oklahoma. Matt is survived by his son Cole of Deer Creek, his love whom he spent the last few years of his life with Vickie McBee of Piedmont. Mom and step dad Nancy and Andy Newsom of Luther. Matt is also survived by two brothers Mike and his wife Alisha and their two children Anna and Chance of Mustang, and Chris of Luther, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that loved Matt unconditionally.
Friends and Family are invited to a visitation on Monday, April 16, 2016 form 12-8pm at Baggerley Funeral Home at 930 S Broadway in Edmond Oklahoma. The family will receive guests from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Life Church at 2001 NW 178th, Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 1100 am, burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
