Martha, Tina, Grace, and Katie:

We were deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing. I got to know Mike while attending Saturday night services at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. Our girls were always in the same classes in Stomp and it didn't take us long to strike up a friendship. My initial impression of Mike was that he was someone who always had a smile on his face and that he exuded a warm and loving nature. He always greeted me and asked how I was doing and how my family was . . . no matter how busy things were there at church, what he had going on, etc. As I got to know Mike, I quickly realized that he was a man of substance - something that made him stand out among so many shallow men of our world today. I echo the words that so many people have used to describe him recently . . . witty, intelligent, accomplished, humble, content. He had much in his life he could have boasted about - his education, his career, his financial accomplishments, etc. - but that wasn't his nature. Quite the contrary; he was very humble about all those things. I really liked that about him. Mike loved his family and was deeply concerned about being a Christ-like leader for Tina, Grace, and Katie. He was someone that had the right priorities in his life - God first, then family, then work, furthering his education, etc. In a world where most of us struggle for balance in life, I think he had it figured out. I will miss you, my brother. I look forward to seeing you again . . .

I met Mike while at Pride MMA. He was a great person to train with. Your family is in my prayers.

Mike was such a great guy, father, and husband.  He knew SciFi books and movies, which made him doubly great.  I'll miss seeing him at church every Saturday, his sense of humor, and his witty intellegence.

I worked with Mike at IBM.  He always made an impression on me with his quiet ways, yet his more inquisitive and thoughtful way of looking at his work, the world and people was what I liked.  I was glad to have gotten to know him as he really stood out - both as a person and co-worker.  I am saddened by this news and cannot imagine how hard it is for your family.  He will be missed.

I was completely shocked to learn of Mike's death. I had only seen him once in the past year or so, but my mind is full of wonderful memories of our time together in college. He was a good and decent person who cared about others, and he was a friend to me at a time when I needed it the most. Words cannot begin to express how sorry I am for Tina and the rest of the family. I know your hearts are broken, but I hope it helps to know that there are many, many people who share your sorrow and who will remember him fondly in the years to come.
