Mikeal Sue McGough Sestak

Mikeal Sue McGough Sestak, 79, was born December 9, 1942, in Stillwater, OK, to Everett G. "Mike" and Opal (Lawrence) McGough. She and her younger siblings Edd and Rose Laurie moved several times before the family settled in Edmond in the late 1950s.

Sue graduated from Edmond High School in 1960. She went to Oklahoma State University, where she pledged Zeta Tau Alpha and graduated with a BA in education in 1964. After working as a math teacher in Denver for a year, she returned to Edmond to marry Joe John Sestak, Jr. on August 21, 1965. Their daughter Andrea Lynn was born July 19, 1967, followed by their son Michael John on June 5, 1971. The family attended First Christian Church in Edmond, where they all made many lifelong friends.

Sue remained active in OSU alumni and Zeta activities. Tennis and bridge also opened new circles of friends. A brief year in Kansas City ended with the devastating loss of her husband, Joe, on November 1, 1990. Upon returning to Edmond, she worked as a decorator and real estate agent.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sestak, and her parents, Mike and Opal McGough.

She is survived by her children Andrea and Michael Sestak; granddaughter Mikaela Avans; brother Edd McGough; and sister Rose Laurie Dobbs.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at First Christian Church, Edmond, with a reception to follow.
