Mildred worked for years as a bookkeeper and administrative support in the insurance business. In her later years, after her children were grown, she went back to school and graduated from Oklahoma Junior College. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and received a certificate from the Fellowship of Life Management Institute.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Ralph T McCoy; their son Richard Allen McCoy; brother Harold Fuhrmann of Perryville Mo; and parents Leo and Ruby Mae Fuhrmann.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Laura Tatum and husband Kevin of Edmond; grandchildren: Paul and Valerie Green of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, Alisha and Kori Stokes of Stillwater, OK, Richard “Scooter “ McCoy of Springfield MO, Drew and Emily Tatum of Dubuque IA, and Melanie Tatum of Dubuque, IA; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mildred was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior. She was known for her outspokenness and soft heart. She loved hanging out with her singing friends from the Oklahoma Music Group, where you even might find her busting out a dance! She was known as “the cat lady” at the residence where she lived. It was nothing for you to see her and her cat Lula Mae roaming the hallways. She sure did love her cats. Laura, her daughter, always described her mom as “a little feisty German woman.” Mildred was a lot of fun and loved to laugh.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mildred’s name to Edmond Road Baptist Church.
