Missy was born October 19, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Robert and Charlotte (Eaves) Mawhinney. A 1972 graduate of Edmond High School, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Central State University.
An employee of FedEx for over 25 years, Missy retired in 2016. Her proudest achievement was raising her two daughters, Lynsey and Lacey, and being Gigi to her precious grandchildren, Hudson, Chandler, Corbin and Brady, who brought her immense joy.
Missy had the warmest smile and most infectious laugh. She had a gift of making others feel special and treasured her friendships. Voted “friendliest” in high school, she never met a stranger. Missy loved watching her daughters dance, attending sporting events, sewing, giving the best advice and being a second mom to many. She loved cheering on the OU Sooners and the OKC Thunder, but cheered loudest at her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Missy is proceeded in death by her father, Robert; her mother, Charlotte; and her brother Richard Riggs.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynsey Davis and Lacey Bernstein; sons-in-law, Matthew Davis, and BJ Bernstein; four grandchildren, sister Rebecca Cook, brother Robert Riggs; and many nieces and nephews.
Missy’s lasting legacy will be her kindness and compassion, along with the love and support she provided to all who knew her, and always remembering to laugh every day!
