Morrie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Bill” “Beth” Stewart and her son Mark; his parents; his siblings Leon Stewart (wife Darlene), Mary Lou Benne (husband Carl), Donald Stewart (wife Donna) and Richard Stewart.
He is survived by his brothers Johnny Stewart and wife Connie, and Larry Stewart and wife Nancy; his sister Louise Brown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, especially Aaron Stewart (wife Jennifer), who made Morrie very proud.
Moree worked many years and retired from the Oklahoma Public School District in the Village as a boiler technician and maintenance man. He took pride in his work and believed in doing a job the right way.
He was a longtime member of the Britton Church of Christ and later attended Edmond Church of Christ.
Moree was known for his overalls — they were his trademark. He took pride in the stereotype of a “grumpy old man.” He was practically joker and had great sense of humor. He spoke his mind freely and never pretending to be anything other than himself.
In his final year at The Lakes Skilled Nursing Center, he was surrounded not only by the compassionate care of the staff, but also by the devoted presence of Robb “Dodge” and Jan Miller who loved him as their own and often were mistaken as his children. The family is deeply grateful for the kindness shown to him during this time.
A Graveside Service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118, US, on March 3, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
