Nola Joy Swearingen was born September 24, 1956 to Mary Lou (Shanks) and Marion D. Swearingen, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She earned her angel wings on January 9, 2022, 11 years to the day after her son Marion James Swearingen.
Joy, as she was known to all, lived in Edmond most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family and she helped anyone she could with anything she had.
Joy enjoyed people and thrift store shopping. She never met a stranger. She talked to everyone and they became her friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and son, Marion. She is survived by her son, Brian Swearingen; sister, Debra Pennington; brother, Rodney Reece; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one aunt.
Joy will be truly missed by all who loved her.
