Pauline Underwood Parsons was born in Oklahoma to parents, Jack and Nellie Underwood on September 21, 1925. She met Glyn Parsons when she was 19, and after only a few dates they knew they were meant to be. Glyn and Pauline were married in Miami, Florida on August 10, 1944. They shared a passion for horses and managed to balance their devotions to the paint horse community, while also raising their two sons, Dwayne and Steve. Pauline was an active member in the Oklahoma Paint Horse Association for over 40 years, serving as secretary, organizing horse shows, classes, and banquets. She also taught elementary school and served as a substitute teacher for many years. She was a talented artist and enjoyed sharing her talent with her granddaughters. Pauline loved animals and has provided a home for many strays who were lucky enough to wander up her drive. She was utterly devoted to her family, generous to a fault, and extremely independent. Pauline was driving a tractor at 95 years of age and when the tractor got stuck, she hitched it up to her car and pulled it out herself. I am not sure there is a better example of her character. She was a force of nature and a font of practical wisdom. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who love her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Glyn Parsons, and her son, Dwayne Lester Parsons. She is survived by her son, Steve Parsons and wife, Pattie of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, Kelly of Guthrie; grandsons, Shane Parsons and wife, Beth of Stillwater, Joseph Parsons of Edmond, and Thomas Parsons and wife, Toni of Yukon; granddaughters, Somer and Katelyn Parsons of Edmond, and Jaliana Parsons of Yukon.
A come-and-go visitation for Pauline will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Gracelawn Cemetery, 1407 N. Boulevard, Edmond, OK 73034.
