

Heaven welcomed home Rowena Nadine Mills on July 27, 2013. Rowena was born to Roy and Esther Dan on October 21, 1928 in Choctaw, OK. She graduated from Luther High School in 1946 and married the love of her life, Carl Mills, on October 18, 1947. She lived her life dedicated to being a wonderful wife and the best mother and “Nana” anyone could ever have. She was also the beloved sister and aunt of her 6 siblings and many nieces and nephews. A longtime resident of Edmond, Rowena was a faithful member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church. Rowena and Carl loved sports and thoroughly enjoyed attending OU football games for many years as season ticket holders. She was also an avid bowler. Learn and Serve Extension Homemakers club was another passion of Rowena’s. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, winning many blue ribbons at the fair. She sewed for “You are Special” but her greatest joy was sewing for her daughter and granddaughters. After her husband's retirement, she and Carl enjoyed the freedom to travel. Rowena always treasured time spent with family, hosting many gatherings at her home over the years. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years; one sister, Maudie Franklin; two brothers, Leroy and Charles Dan; Rowena is survived by her son, Gregory; daughter, Cindy Burt; granddaughter, Holly Birt and husband Wendell; grandson, Brandon Burt and wife Rachel; two great-granddaughters Karley and Kailyn Birt; one great-grandson, Bentley Carl Burt; one brother, Bob Dan; two sisters, Cleda Swartz and Pat Lumry; and many other friends and family members. Funeral services will be 10:00am, Thursday, August 1st at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home.
