

Butch, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love and compassion. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. He had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Earleen Brock, daughter Dina Owings and husband Clint, son Colby Brock and wife Keri, 3 granddaughters, whom he loved dearly, Mackenzie Brock, Rylee Przilas and husband Parker, and Camryn Owings, niece Sami Johnson and husband D.J., sister-in-law Rita Cotton and husband John, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who shared in his joyful spirit. He will be deeply missed by his best friends Max Mullins and Bob Pottberg. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy T. and Willie Bates Brock, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Carroll Thayer, nephew David Thayer. Brother John and sisters Evelyn and Amelia.
Butch graduated from Choctaw High School in 1957. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving for Two years on the Minesweeper USS Skill. He had an Associates Degree from OSU Tech in Fire Protection Technology. A Batchelor of Arts Degree in Political Science/Municipal Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. Completed The Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy along with multiple certificates from the National Fire Academy and the ATF.
He worked at The Village Fire Department for 36 years, the last 16 years he served as Fire Chief. After retiring from The Village Fire Department, he served as Fire Chief and was Chairman of The Board for the Deer Creek Fire Protection District for 25 years.
He had many professional affiliations such as the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Director of the Southwestern Division, Texas A&M Municipal Fire School Safety Supervisor, 56 year Scottish Rite Freemason as well as a Shriner.
He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He never met a stranger and loved to tell stories and jokes.
There will be a viewing at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK on Sunday September 14, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Services will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00 am at Acts 2 United Methodist Church, 4848 W. Covell Rd, Edmond, OK followed by burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
