I know this is so very late in sending our condolences for Russ’ passing but we were stunned when I stumbled upon his obituary as we were reminiscing about our years in College Station back in the 70s. We were next door neighbors of Russ and Pam. We remember the birth of Rusty and your dog Rufus very well. We cherished our time living at Aggie Acres and remember those days with fondness. Do you remember the fish fry we had in the parking lot in front of the apartments, growing our garden out back?  Those were the best of times weren’t they? 

God bless you Pam and your family. I know you must miss him. We are thinking about you all.

Russ was one of the truest friends and finest men I have had the privilege to know. I met him when he and Pam moved to Aggie Acres on wellborn road just outside College 
Station. She was pregnant with Rusty and he was completing his degree.  We each had black labs, Rufus and Belke.  We were avid runners and had long talks while the dogs investigated every inch of pasture along the way.  

Later Russ recruited me to Grace Petroleum and I worked from him for five years, but he always treated me as a valued equal.  I left Grace to return to Texas where I met my wife of thirty years at a H. J. Gruy consulting engineers in Dallas.  Without the time and training Russ invested in me I would have never been hired by Gruy and never met my beloved wife.  My greatest happiness is my family and I provided for 5 kids with a career that began working with Russ at Grace.  

As happens in life, we loose contact with friends.  We spoke a few times over the years but never enough.  With all the storms in Oklahoma, I wanted to track him down be sure that he and his family were all right, but I was almost a year too late. 

I was expecting to catch up, reminisce about old times and tell him again how much joy he had brought into my life and the lives of so many others. No worries, I will still tell him when I see him again.

My thoughts and prayers are with Pam and all the kids and grand kids.

So sorry for the loss of Russ. Our prayers are with you Pam.
