John S. Horner, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City after a short, but courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born July 22, 1945 in Oklahoma City to Glenn and Estelle (Smith) Horner. Scott was a 1963 graduate of Putnam City High School. He married the love of his life, Judy (Hayden) Horner on February 4, 1966 in Edmond, Oklahoma and has been a lifelong resident since. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Computer Science from what was then known as Central State University, now The University of Central Oklahoma.
Scott began his long career in the oil and gas industry at Kerr McGee. He moved on to SOHIO and finally to DCP Midstream where he retired as a GIS analyst in 2012. He enjoyed his retirement traveling with his wife, Judy, spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking and trying out new recipes. Scott is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy, son Scott Horner and wife Kelly, daughter Becky Stephens and daughter Liz Starks and her husband Bryan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Hudsen, Peyton, Gage, Aidan, Phoebe, Tyler and Kylie as well as a brother, Glenn, and a sister Sue.
