Sheryl Diane Mason

Sheryl Diane Mason, age 78, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. Sheryl was born to J.C. Fortenberry and Nadine Privett in Ark City, Kansas on January 26, 1946. She graduated from Northern Oklahoma College of Tonkawa with a degree in Nursing. She was an R.N. for over 40 years and worked at Mercy Hospital for 26 plus years. She married Hugh Mason in 1977 and had their son Matthew in 1979.

She was a long time resident of Yukon before moving to St. Ann’s Skilled Nursing in October of 2019. As a youth, she was very involved in church. She sang in the choir and participated in church plays. She loved playing piano and singing. As an adult, she sang in the choir at two different churches. She was very strong willed, hardworking, and had a deep compassion for other people. She loved spending time with her family more than anything. She was a big influence in her son and Brother Jack’s life. She had a great sense of humor and always gave her all in everything she did. At St. Ann’s she was the president of the Resident Council and was involved in other committees. She held a Bible Study once a month for the Residents of St. Ann’s. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Heaven gained another angel.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her father J.C. Fortenberry and mother, Nadine Privett. Sheryl is survived in death by her son Matthew Mason and Wife Desiree, her brother Jack Fortenberry and wife Debbie and her niece Cassandra Fortenberry, and nephew Chris Fortenberry.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Waterloo Cemetery, 6801 Kelly Ave, Edmond, OK 73025. A memorial service celebrating the life of Sheryl will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Ann's Skilled Nursing and Therapy Chapel, 9400 St Ann Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
