Stephen David Lee Jr., 69, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at his home in Edmond surrounded by his loving family. Known as Steve, David, Bubby, Dad, Grandpa, and "Ol' Steve" to his family and friends, he was a devoted husband, caring father, and proud grandfather. He loved his work as a consultant working with crews in the oil fields, and refused to give up life when he was diagnosed with cancer in April 2010. Born in Hobart, Oklahoma to Fern and Stephen Lee Sr., Steve grew up with three younger sisters who love him dearly. He was married to Linda Lee and raised seven boys who each had a close and loving relationship with their Dad. After living in Texas, California, and Colorado he survived a near-fatal accident as a truck driver in 1978, spending almost 6 months in the hospital recovering. He finally settled in South Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1981 where he finished raising his boys and developed passions for playing golf, fishing, boating, and pleated denim shorts. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them with gifts, laughs and love.
Steve always had a smile to share with people, an unexpected joke, and a warm hug. He was often referred to as stubborn and maybe even demanding, but those closest to him know he had the respect and honor from all his boys that every dad desires, and the undying love from his wife Linda who cared for him with grace and compassion. The respect and honor they share for him is a testimony to the man they loved so dearly.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda, and seven boys and their spouses: Michael of California, Jeffrey of California, Steven and Rula of Texas, Greg and Robin of Indiana, Scott and Natalie of Texas, Rick and Chanda of Oklahoma, and Randy and Carey of Oklahoma; and his 13 grandchildren: Mikayla, Katiana, Isabella, Samantha, Mylee, Connor, Parker, Zachary, Ethan, Nauman, Deena, Rami, and Anderson. He is also survived by his three younger sisters, their spouses and seven nieces and nephew who lovingly referred to him as Uncle Bubby. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, October 14, at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond.
