Steven Wayne Anderson

Steven Wayne “Steve” Anderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and devoted family man, was born June 12, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to John Frank Anderson and Joyce Ann Mock. As an Okie for most of his life, Steve was raised in Edmond, and spent the majority of his career as a teacher and coach in the communities of Hinton and Piedmont before eventually retiring to Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Steve graduated from Edmond High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from Central State University and his master’s degree in Education Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Steve was a longtime member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and served as president from 1972–1973. He also proudly served in the Air Force Reserves and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Steve and his wife, Linda (Franklin) Anderson, were married on March 8, 1975. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and countless memories shared with their children and grandchildren.

A dedicated educator and coach, Steve’s professional life was marked by his commitment to his students, athletes, and community. Among his many accomplishments, he was named Teacher of the Year and took great pride in the lives he was able to influence through teaching. He also devoted much of his time pursuing his true calling, coaching football and wrestling. Known by most as “Coach Anderson” or simply “Coach” his career was highlighted by leading the Hinton Comets wrestling team to a state title in 1982, an achievement that reflected his determination and competitive spirit.

Those who knew Steve will remember his love of country music, his favorite color, crimson, and especially his unwavering passion for OU football. His perfect day was simple: watching an OU football game surrounded by family. More than anything, Steve loved his family, and nothing brought him greater joy than his children and grandchildren.

Steve believed in appreciating everyone’s opinion, even when it differed from his own. He hoped to be remembered as a good father and Papa to his children and grandkids, a devoted and loving family man who valued the people he loved above all else. His legacy of love, dedication, and family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.

Steve is survived by his wife Linda of the home, children Mandy and Danny Lewis, Kirk Anderson and Lucas Chase, and Kevin and Karie Anderson, grandchildren Avery and Ace Anderson and Kimber Lewis, brother Dale Anderson and wife Nancy, sisters Carole Fields and husband Robert, Mary Harrison and husband Darrell, and Karen Baxter, one niece and twelve nephews.

Visitation will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, US, on August 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, US, on August 17, 2026, at 10:00 am.
