Susan Joyce Weinmeister passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. She was born on December 9, 1939, in San Diego, California, to Ervin and Lorraine Watts. She married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Weinmeister, on December 27, 1962, beginning a partnership marked by devotion, music, and faith.
Susan grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where she developed a love for cooking, horseback riding, and sewing. She attended Stephens College and Oklahoma State University, earning a teaching degree and becoming a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She began her career teaching in a one room schoolhouse, a season of life during which she met and married Jerry.
Together, Susan and Jerry built a home and a family in Ponca City, Perry, and Edmond, Oklahoma. Susan devoted many years to raising her children, creating a warm and steady home before later working as the cafeteria manager at Edmond Memorial High School. She took great pride in caring for students and staff and served in that role for many years before retiring in 2002.
Susan’s life was marked by service and quiet faithfulness. She gave generously of her time, leading Camp Fire Girls and Bluebirds troops, volunteering with Whiz Kids Oklahoma to tutor children in reading, and serving faithfully in the Lutheran churches she attended throughout her life. She held many fond memories of singing in the church choir, an experience that brought her deep joy and connection.
In her later years, Susan made her home at Concordia Life Plan Community, where she was surrounded by care, fellowship, and faith. She and Jerry shared several cherished years making music together on the skilled nursing side of the community. Jerry would play the harmonica while Susan sang, bringing comfort and joy to those around them. Susan was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren and spoke of them often.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Amy Levinrad and her husband Ken, and Joyce Bertoch and her husband David; her son, Brian Weinmeister and his wife Andrea; her grandchildren, Nicole and Rachel Levinrad, Olivia Bertoch, and Jake Levinrad; and her sister, Kathy Hardin and her husband Paul. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry and her parents, Ervin and Lorraine Watts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Concordia Community Foundation, in gratitude for the care and community that supported Susan in her later years.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Concordia Life Plan Community, 7707 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.
