Susie Annette Johnston

Susie Annette Johnston was born in Okeene, OK on August 14,1948, the daughter of Bill and Helen Rauh. Susie passed away peacefully on October 18,2024 in Edmond, OK at the age of 76. Susie lived in Carlsbad, NM with her parents and younger sister, Debbie Burnham, while her father served in the US Navy. At the age of 9 her family returned to Okeene, OK where she graduated from Okeene High School.

Susie married Reggie Johnston on October 17,1995 and together they built a loving blended family. Susie was the mother of 5 children: Christy de la Torre, Chad Crawford, Jennifer Crawford, Julie Keyser, and her bonus daughter Kameron Jones. She was the very proud Grammie of 7 grandchildren: Conner Ashford, Lindsay Ashford, Holden Jones, Mia Jones, Christian de la Torre, Cruz de la Torre, and Keyser Eubanks; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Ashford.

Susie was a student of the University of Oklahoma School of Nursing, graduating in 1975. She began working in labor and delivery, but soon found her passion in cardiovascular surgery and transplant working along side the renowned Nazih Zuhdi, MD. After dedicating more than 22 years to cardiovascular medicine, she used her nursing skills to embark on a new journey as a medical case manager. Her success led her to founding her own business, “Johnston Medical Case Management & Consulting.” She retired at the age of 71.

Susie will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her. She leaves behind countless friends and family members whose lives were brighter because of her.

A memorial service for Susie will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3600 Northwest Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
