

Sylvia Ann Ivey-Sevier was born on April 12, 1936 in Yukon, Oklahoma to James Charles Kastl and Sylvia Agnes (Svoboda) Kastl. She was baptized on April 26, 1936, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Yukon. She was the middle child of three. Sylvia was preceded in death by her older brother, James L. Kastl and survived by younger sister, Dolores Mae (Kastl) Meyer. Sylvia started first grade at the age of four in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She graduated high school from Sacred Heart High School in El Reno, Oklahoma.
She lived at the YWCA downtown OKC after graduating high school while attending secretarial school. She met her husband, Coy B. Ivey, while walking to work, in front of where he worked in downtown OKC. They were married on June 28, 1955. Coy was a young widower with two young children, Joel R. Ivey (10) and Nancy (Ivey) Parrish (8). Sylvia became an instant mother and loved them and raised them to adulthood.
They purchased a home in SE OKC (Valley Brook) where they resided for approximately five years before buying their acreage near downtown Edmond in November 1961, where she lived until her death.
Sylvia and Coy Ivey were married for forty-one years. During this time, they established and operated Coy’s 24-hour Wrecker Service in Edmond for seventeen years. They retired in 1986 and sold it to their son, Coy D. Ivey, who operated it for an additional twenty-six years.
Sylvia and Coy were also charter members of the Edmond Roundup Club. Sylvia washed and groomed their horses and tack. She propped their youngest daughter (6 weeks old) Shelly on the front of the saddle and rode in the Grand Entry!
After the death of Coy B. Ivey in 1996, Sylvia married Jimmie Sevier on April 4, 2002. Sylvia and Jim enjoyed a short time together playing bingo and spending time outdoors before Jim passed away in 2006.
Sylvia led a wholesome, unselfish, simple life. She lived to serve others and God. She loved God whole-heartedly and was thankful every day for the many blessings that He bestowed upon her.
She loved her family which included four children, Joel R. Ivey (deceased), Nancy Mae (Ivey) Parrish, along with her husband Eugene Parrish, Coy Dwayne Ivey, Shelly Dawn (Ivey) Davis, along with her husband David L. Davis, and all of her fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, thirteen great great-grandchildren, one niece and three nephews.
A visitation for Sylvia will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.
A celebration of life will occur Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
