Tip grew up in both Oklahoma and California, attending high school in Tulsa and Hollywood, California before beginning a long and distinguished career of service to his country. He entered the Naval Reserve in 1953 before transitioning to the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1954 until 1983. Over the course of over thirty years in uniform, Tip was stationed across the globe, including Texas, Nevada, Alaska, Arizona, Libya, Colorado, and California. He retired with the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9), serving his final military years as the First Sergeant of David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB, California.
After retiring from the Air Force, Tip eventually made his home in Dallas, Texas, and later in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he remained close to his family and his church community at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving, Texas.
Tip was a man of many joys. He had a deep love for music, especially 50’s rock and 60’s R&B, and his favorite color, purple, always seemed to reflect his vibrant spirit. His grandchildren were the greatest source of his laughter and pride, bringing light and smiles to his face whenever they were near. He will be remembered for his talents, from cooking the perfect steak, to teaching chainsaw safety, to showing others how to drive a standard.
A perfect day in Tip’s eyes was simple: good company and a glass of fine scotch. He especially loved a single malt scotch paired with an OU football game on television.
Tip is preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia Ann Dinges, his mother Margaret Elizabeth Ann Jordan, and sister, Marjorie Dale Jordan.
Tip is survived by children, Terry Lee Jordan and wife Jennifer May of Abbott, Texas, Lori Lynn Talbott of Plano, Texas, Larry Allen Jordan and wife Jody of Kemp, Texas, James Michael Jordan and wife Cindy Cherie of Dallas, Texas, Steven Dean Jordan of Farmers Branch, Texas, Jeffrey Wayne Jordan of Edmond, Oklahoma, step-daughter, Deborah Denise Rush of Irving, Texas, fourteen grandchildren, tons and tons of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, two nieces, and one nephew.
Tip leaves behind a legacy of service, humor, and love. He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, a man who taught by example and lived with honor, humility, and heart.
A graveside service for Tippy will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
