

Tyler Alan Mays, born November 21, 1987 in Edmond, Oklahoma and passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Tyler graduated from Edmond North High School in 2006. He studied Journalism Broadcasting and played golf at Seminole State College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. While attending school, he worked in a restaurant as a cook and soon discovered how much he enjoyed cooking and the restaurant industry. When returning to Edmond he pursued his passion and began his career in culinary arts. Tyler not only enjoyed cooking but working with people. He was work-driven, self-motivated and loved taking on the challenges of his work and building relationships. Tyler was a passionate man with a huge heart and contagious smile; he was a great brother and friend to many. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and supporting Notre Dame. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends. The most recent joy in Tyler's life was becoming an uncle. He so looked forward to the future with his nephew.
Tyler is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Sam W. Mays and Marcine L. Mays; uncles, Sam Mays Jr., W. Patrick Mays, and Mark Alan Mays; maternal grandparents, Harry Horyna and Viola Horyna.
He is survived by parents, Mike and Novia Mays of Edmond; siblings, Mike and Brynn Mays and Trevor Mays; and nephew, Hayden Michael Mays, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Tyler’s name to the golf program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. If mailing a check, the University said to please put “Tyler Mays fund” in the memo line. Donations may be mailed to:
