Vera RUTH Zeller Bryan, born June 12, 1917, Chattanooga, Oklahoma, passed away quietly Thursday afternoon at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital with many family members in attendance. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Leah Zeller, brothers William Joseph and Robert Paul, sister Martha Leah Zeller, and daughter-in-law Johanne Bryan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of more than 75 years, Walter Perry Bryan, Jr., working beside him as a minister’s wife for those 75 years. She was active in teaching and accompanied him on several mission trips. For much of her adult life, she was involved in Oklahoma Christian Women’s Association.
She was actively involved in quilting and knitting of stocking caps for the newborn in her later years. Beginning in her pre-teen years, she used her budding sewing, canning, and decorating talents in 4-H, which set the stage for a lifetime of growing and preserving food to serve delicious meals to her family and many guests in her and Walter’s home, sharing her sewing talents to clothe both her family and many others, and providing a welcoming setting in the various homes in which she and Walter lived during his preaching career.
She is survived by brother John Herman Zeller and family of Edmond; son Philip and wife JaReesa of Edmond; son Stephen Bryan and wife Judy of Bluejacket, Oklahoma; and son Mark of Bailey, Colorado; grandchildren Sheri Dodd; Philip Bryan, Jr.; Greg Bryan; Jason Bryan; Jennifer Bryan; and great grand-children Jessica Lamb, Jeremy Dodd, Blake Bryan, Bryce Bryan, Morgan Bryan, Christian Bryan, John Bryan, Easton Bryan, and Ellis Bryan.
A special thanks to Dr. Christopher Kerns and Dr. Charles Te and to all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
