At the age of 16, Vicky moved from her family home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she attended Job Corps and pursued a career in cosmetology. It was in the Guthrie area that she met and married the love of her life, Don Spence. Vicky’s greatest joy was becoming a mother to her three sons, Michael, Johnny, and Tommy, while also embracing her role as stepmother to her daughter, Terresa, through her marriage to Don.
Vicky built a long and successful career running an in-home daycare in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She later began a remarkable 35-plus-year career with Braum’s, where she developed strong bonds with her regular customers and coworkers, many of whom she considered dear friends. She took great pride in bringing smiles to others through her work.
Vicky found joy in gardening, relaxing by her pool in the sunshine, cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, listening to Elvis, enjoying a cold Pepsi, and most of all, being a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She cherished spending time with her best friend, Patrice, sharing endless laughter and treasured memories. She also deeply valued her visits back to Idaho and Utah to reconnect with her family.
Vicky adored her 11 grandchildren—Shelby, Eric, Aaron, Krystle, Lauren, Caroline, Brittany, Chance, Serah, Paige, and Brooklyn—each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She was further blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
Vicky is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Don; her siblings Irvin Hansen, Sherry Kelsey, Ed Hansen, Terry Hansen, Linda Briggs, and Steven Hansen; and her grandson, Aaron Thornbrue.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Adams; her children, Michael Spence and wife Christina, Johnny Spence and wife Tina, Tommy Spence and partner Renae, and Terresa McGuire and her husband Bob; as well as her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many dear friends, and extended family members.
Vicky’s family finds comfort and joy knowing she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Don, just in time to celebrate his birthday together, as well as her parents and siblings.
