

Virginia Sue Avey passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 4, 2014. Virginia was born to her parents Homer and Mammie (Brewer) Lucas on February 9, 1938 in Holdenville, OK. Virginia graduated from Wetumka High school in 1956. She worked at M-D Co. in OKC where she met Richard Avey.
Virginia married Richard on Aug. 4, 1959. They lived in The Village (OKC), OK for 50 years. Virginia was a Cub Scout Den Mother and very active in little league sports. She retired from Edmond public school food services after 18 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents and Sister’s Bernice Dunn of Broken Arrow and Mary Ellen Williams of Edmond. She is survived by her husband Richard M. Avey; son Bryan Avey and Daughter-in-Law Belinda Avey and son Troy Avey and wife Jean. She is also survived by sisters Geneva Robinson and Johnnie Mae Everett; brothers Jim Lucas, Bill Lucas and Bob Lucas, sisters Sharon Crain and Starr Shrader. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Chris Avey and wife Lynn, Ashley Avey, Alissa (Avey) Brooks, Tyler Avey and Trey Avey; four great-grandchildren, Trent Avey, Ethan Brooks, Payton Avey and Adison Avey, and a whole tribe of nieces and nephews and extended family. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Darryl Hay will officiate.
