Virginia Mae Tucker of Edmond, Oklahoma died Thursday, June 29th, at the age of 99. She was the 5th of 8 children born to James W. and Achie Emma Henley Campbell on February 4, 1921 in Dallas, Texas. She spent her life as a homemaker and ministry partner with her pastor husband of 34 years, John (B.H.) Tucker. They served the members of Beckley Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas for 14 years and she provided support to John as he worked as a chaplain at various veteran hospitals in Arkansas and Texas before his death in 1983. Following his death, Virginia took college classes in music, Spanish, and religion at a junior college and learned to play the guitar. Her faith sustained her through life and sharing the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, was manifested by supporting home and foreign mission work and teaching Sunday School until the age of 87. She loved her children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, reading, writing poetry, church and handbell choir and was an avid bowler. She began bowling in her late teens and continued until the age of 92.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara (Boyce) Lawson of Edmond, Ok. and son, Thomas (Melanie) Tucker of Wenatchee, WA.; 9 grandchildren, Aaron Lawson of Edmond, OK; Michelle (Eric) Scott of Guthrie, Ok, Kristi Lawson of Edmond, OK, Brittany (Barry) Hautz of Edmond, OK, John Tucker, Blaise Tucker, Madelon Tucker, Elizabeth Tucker and Henry Tucker of Wenatchee, WA; and 6 great-grandchildren, Kaedyn and Landon Scott, Brooklinn, Alyssa, Ava, and Aidan Hautz.
