Warren “Jiggs” Griffin, born July 22nd, 1941, the son of Forest “Jiggs” Griffin and Clovis French Griffin. Griffin passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2018. He grew up in Edmond, OK and graduated from Edmond High School in 1959 where he was a state champion wrestler. He married Pat Bell in 1961 and had their only child, Scott, in 1962.
Jiggs served in the Army between 1960-1962. He graduated Central State College in 1964 and the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1967. Jiggs moved to MWC the summer of 1968 to start his law practice and later served as city attorney for the next 20 years. He practiced in MWC until 1998, then the Belle Isle area until 2017. He moved his residence to Edmond in 1981 where he joined Oak Tree Golf Club. During his time as a lawyer he traveled the western half of the United States defending clients. His diversity in clients was wide ranged from the guy off the street to banks, corporations, and members of the Black Panther gang. He always said whoever walks into my office will be represented to the best of my ability no matter where they came from. He said he could judge a man’s character from the shoes he wore. Jiggs was an avid golfer, loved to hunt quail and train bird dogs just like his father, and an OU football fan throughout his adult life. He and Pat enjoyed entertaining family and friends in their home and during the late 70s & 80s he enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe with his buddies. Jiggs was full of spirit and could tell a joke or two or three. As the grandkids were growing up Jiggs put his priorities in another direction and didn’t miss many softball, baseball, football or cheerleading events. Parkinson’s and Dementia took Jiggs early but that didn’t stop him from enjoying life to the fullest. He always mentioned family and friends in his last words with joy and that’s what we will remember him for. Jiggs is survived by his wife, Pat Griffin; son, Scott Griffin (Michelle); sister, Linda Dawson; grandchildren, Britni Hosick (Bryan) and Chandler Griffin; many cousins, nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers please send donations to a charity of choice. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel followed by a private family interment at Waterloo Cemetery.
