Wendee Jo Roberts, “MeeMee,” went to be with Jesus in Heaven on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 71. MeeMee was surrounded by her family when she passed. We celebrate that she is no longer in pain and cancer free in Heaven.
Wendee was born to Howard and Joann Powers on February 23, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK. As a child, Wendee enjoyed playing outside with her multitude of friends and singing in the choir. She attended Nichols Hills Elementary and John Marshall High School. Wendee would go on to complete her bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma.
Wendee met her sweet husband, Joe Roberts, in 1967 at John Marshall High School. On August 23, 1969, they got married at the Mayfair Church of Christ. They welcomed two daughters, Sara and Emilee, in their 1408 Oxford Way home. They later built a home at 5932 N Central Road and later moved to 7508 Sandlewood Dr in Oklahoma City, where they retired together.
She worked at the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Capital Glass, Metro Tech, and Francis Tuttle. Wendee was recognized as a teacher for most of her career. She taught math, English, reading, and job readiness skills to many students. Wendee served others and showed God’s love throughout her life. While teaching, she fed hungry students and gave them money, clothing, love, and support to anyone who needed it.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving MeeMee, she also loved reading, yoga, fishing, cooking, but most of all loving her family and Po Po (Joe).
Wendee is preceded in death by parents Howard and Joann Powers, brother Rod Powers, and grandparents.
She is survived by husband Joe Roberts; daughters Sara Hall (Brian Hall) and Emilee Roberts; grandkids: Rainee Ball (Ryan Ball) and Rogan Hall; great-grandkids, Emee, Ellee, and Elora Ball; siblings Katie Stoller, Hi Roberts, Jim Roberts, Shirley Blevins, Bernadette Powers, Rusty Cottrell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up
with wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not
faint.”
