He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Helene (Scheffler), his parents Wilhelm and Elisabeth (Maier), seven siblings Wilhelm (Agnes Weber), infant Maria, Theresia (Lorenz Weber), Peter (Katherine Fahlman), Joseph, Paul (Gertrude Wasserle), Nicholas, granddaughter Caroline Caddel, son-in-law Rod MacDonald, and brothers-in-law Frank Vrana, Heinz Cern, and Herbert Scheffler (Gudrun Siminski).
John leaves behind: six children Martina (Ted), Bertram, Monica, Mary, Rio (Guy), John (Rebecca); sister, Maria Vrana, sisters-in-law Margarete Cern and Janet Rollins (Meier, nee Lummerding), grandchildren; Matthew (Christina), Philip (Amanda), Jennifer, Kathryn; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vigil and Mass will be at Hainstocks Funeral Home, 9810 34 Ave NW, Edmonton

Requiem Mass Oct 22 at 11:30 am.
Rite of Committal and Burial - Private - immediately following Mass at Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery.
