Agnes Catharina Desrosiers (née Hogeslag) passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 92. She was born on January 5, 1933, in Heemstede, the Netherlands, the eldest of four children.
In the 1950s, Agnes married Joe van Berkel, and together they raised three children: Bernadette (Bernie) Biltek, Rudolf (Debbie) van Berkel, and Carlo van Berkel. A talented drapery seamstress and gifted athlete, she became the Netherland’s Women’s National Champion in table tennis in the 1950s - a sport she continued to play competitively until the age of 86!
After emigrating to Canada in 1974, Agnes built a life in Alberta and later married Armand Desrosiers, with whom she shared many joyful years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children; her grandchildren, Christopher van Berkel (Alex), Jason Biltek, Yolanda van Berkel, and Scott Biltek; as well as extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton at Shepherd’s Care Kensington Village, 12603 135 Ave NW Edmonton Alberta , on October 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Please join the family for tea following the service.
