Antonio Dos Santos Machado, better known as “Tony”,
on Saturday April 11, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta.
What stood out about Tony was how kind he was, how considerate he was, he never wanted to worry family and friends, he always suffered quietly.
Tony's heart failed him, ironic, as he had the kindest heart one could wish for. Anyone needed anything, he was there to give a helping hand, always whistling as he was fixing a broken door, broken washer, broken anything. If Tony couldn't fix it, it wasn't worth fixing.
Tony and Dominique spent their winters waiting for spring to come so they could go camping. They went to many places but the place Tony loved the most was Moose Lake Provincial Park, that was the place, where long walks would be taken with the dogs, some fishing, picking of blueberries, sitting by the fire and listening to music. One year Dominique decided to collect lint from the dryer, as they said it made a good fire starter, so all winter we collected and had friends collect for us. Spring came and we took our haul of dryer lint, thinking, wow, this should last all summer. Dominique had asked Tony to place the lint under the trailer. On arrival to the campsite, we did our usual little jobs. Excited to see if the lint trick had worked, Dominique walked out to the trailer to see Tony with a big smile on his face, teepee fire, roaring and the whole bundle of lint on fire. Camping will never be the same.
Tony will live on in our thoughts, in and our memories for many years to come. He would want to be remembered happily by all of you.
