It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our kind, caring, witty and loving husband, father, and grandfather/poppy, Blaine Irvine Wight, on May 14, 2024 at the age of 76 in Edmonton, Alberta. Blaine is survived by his loving wife Sandra; daughters Sherise (Brad), Christine Ki (Jeda) and Keltie; grandchildren Madison, Morgan and Charlie; brother Blake (Annette), sister Linda (Bill); father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Jolene; brothers-in-law Gary (Norene) and Rick (Sandra) and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Ken.
Blaine and his wife, Sandra, spent a beautiful chapter living in the Shuswap of British Columbia where they created special memories and cherished friendships. This was Blaine’s happy place. He spent much time participating in his favorite pastimes including putzing, golfing, fishing or walking their dog, Zoie, who he is walking together with now. Blaine loved to go on road trip adventures with Sandra, finding beautiful spots to picnic and enjoy the view, from Edmonton to BC and beyond.
At Blaine’s request, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada, or the University Hospital Foundation (University of Alberta Hospital). We would like to thank the compassionate ICU team at the University of Alberta Hospital as well as Dr. Franke for her constant loving care for Blaine.
We miss him greatly already, especially his constant expressions of love and care for us, and that frequent playful look in his eye that made us get ready for some gentle teasing or a hilarious joke. We love you always and forever, Blaine. Tight lines and straight shooting.
