Daniel was a devoted high school Social Studies and Physical Education teacher who made a lasting impact on his students and colleagues. He inspired countless young people both in the classroom and in the gymnasium. Daniel also worked part-time with Community Options as a one-on-one support worker for preschoolers with developmental challenges. He was dearly loved by the children and families he supported, making a positive impact every day. Daniel valued the colleagues he worked alongside and, in turn, was respected and appreciated by all.
Outside of work, Daniel had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball and hockey, and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. He especially treasured time spent watching his niece and nephew play sports with their teams, proudly supporting them from the sidelines. Daniel was also an avid TV and movie enthusiast, always ready with a recommendation or to share his thoughts on movies and TV shows he loved. One of his most unique passions was crafting custom guitars, finding joy in bringing each instrument to life through his own hands.
Daniel’s greatest joy, however, was the time he spent with his beloved dogs, Larry and Lucy, who were constant companions and brought him endless happiness. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Leigh-Ann McLean; his father, Terry McLean; his brothers, Justin McLean (Jana, Braydon, Madison) and Tim McLean (Jordanna Aboughoche); as well as extended family, friends, colleagues, and students whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Edmonton Humane Society, in his memory and in support of their important work.
Daniel will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and constant support for others.
