

With a heavy heart we announce Dilip Kumar Roy , a passionate business owner and a dedicated community member, a life-long resident of Edmonton, Canada passed away on December 29, 2024.
Dilip Kumar Roy is survived by his benevolent wife, Deepa; two daughters, Tanya and Sonya; son-in-law, Sudipta; grandchildren, Alena, Ronan and Romit.
Dilip was born in Central Dhaka. After completing college at University of Calcutta, his late father, Jitendra Mohan Roy and late mother, Gouri Roy helped him embark on a journey to Stuttgard, Germany for technical school in 1961. Then he immigrated to Canada in 1965. On December 2, 1970, Dilip married Deepa , beginning a partnership of love, laughter and cherished memories. In the 70’s, he opened a retail business in downtown Edmonton, business district. Dilip was father to two beautiful daughters, who were the most important part of his life. He continued his journey in Business.
From his young years, Dilip loved to devote his time to family. He was one of the first Bengali members in Edmonton and was one of the earliest community leaders. Dilip enjoyed gardening, geopolitics, reading history, and experiencing new cultures. Because of his curious nature and critical thinking there was nothing he could not do; he was a problem solver. He adored
improvements projects for the love of his home, which he built with his wife in the early 80s. Dilip took great pleasure in teaching his daughters independence, strength, patience, and the beauty of music, love and nature. His greatest joy were his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, his spirit vibrant when playing and laughing with them. He adored cherished conversations with family and friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Hainstock Funeral home and condolences may be offered at 9810 - 34 avenue, Edmonton, T6E-6L1. The service is open to everyone and masks are recommended.
Dilip will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a source of inspiration and joy for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his soul rest in peace.
