Dino Helfenstein passed away September 23, 2022 content in the fact that never shall another Brussel sprout cross her lips. Survived by her daughter, Shaynna (Jack), who now lives in a land down under. Dino, number 5 of 7, is still being irritated by sisters Wendy and Lynnie, not so much by sister Alvina or brother Rod, and definitely not by brothers Butch and Con who left this planet early. Dino wishes to apologise for her short stay of 71 years here on earth, she feels she had many more people to annoy and is leaving unfinished business.
Dino disliked growing up in Thorsby Alberta, a small town gossip community at its finest, and left as soon as she was able. She first stepped foot on the racetrack in 1969 and thoroughbreds became her lifeblood. Dino was honoured by every horse as well as cat that crossed her path.
Dino was an avid collector. Period.
When asked to rate life she said “I managed to keep all four shoes on in the race”.
Racetrackers are asked to please stay in barn clothes and spread hay and shavings about (not literally I’m told to say) Everyone else is expected in their fun-eral best! Turquoise and Purple colours encouraged! This is a celebration of life. Light refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers Dino has asked for donations to be made to ARTS Senior Cat Rescue or Canadian War Amps.
A Memorial Service for Dino will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34th Ave, Edmonton, AB T6E6L1.
