Donald “Don” Bruce O’Donahue, born March 31, 1959, passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 66. He will be remembered as a loving father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and an easy-going soul who brought laughter everywhere he went.
He is survived by his daughters Winnie and Dawn and their brother JJ; His siblings Dave (Brenda), Shirley (Bob), and Ken; and many nieces and nephews.
He is joining his deceased family, his brother Joey, his parents Catherine and Arnold, and his nephew David.
Don was born and raised in Edmonton. He spent some time living in Langley, BC where he took courses for painting. He always reminisced about the good times he spent with friends and drinks at “the pit.” He enjoyed a lot of his earlier years spending time with friends and sharing laughs, known as “Donny”.
One of Don’s favourite hobbies was riding his bike. He loved exploring in alleys, finding old things that people would set out and making a good use of them. This became a hobby that brought him a lot of joy, leading him to refinish and collect furniture, vintage tools, bike parts, baseball cards, vintage books, etc.
His proudest accomplishment was raising his daughters Dawn and Winnie (Grump & Eddy) as a single father in Edmonton. He fully embraced being a dad - both strict and loving, and always supportive and encouraging. He did an amazing job raising his two daughters. He spent a lot of time teaching and guiding them through their lives and made a huge impact on shaping who they are today.
Don was known for his goofy, kind, and giving personality. He treated others with respect and always held such a high respect for his elders. He had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh, saying things like “what’s wrong? Can’t take a yolk?” He never wanted to inconvenience anyone but was always happy to help when needed. He believed in staying positive and encouraged his daughters to do the same.
Though he is deeply missed, his family holds onto the joy and laughter he brought into their lives. As he used to always say, “you can’t always get what you want”—but they will always carry his memory with them.
Take it easy up there, dad.
