

Gordon’s early years were spent with his family, growing up near Mill Creek in Edmonton. Gordon enjoyed going to school. He was especially happy one day when his collie, Lucky, followed him to school and the teacher let Lucky stay under his desk for the day!
Gordon attended Garneau and Scona schools, going on to earn degrees from the University of Alberta in Sciences and Education. During the summers, Gordon mowed lawns for the City of Edmonton.
Upon graduation, Gordon was hired by the Edmonton Public School Board. Throughout his career, he taught Sciences at Ross Sheppard, Queen Elizabeth and Scona Academic High Schools. Outside of teaching, Gordon was actively involved in coaching high school sports as well as was an integral member of the Edmonton Regional Science Fair. Gordon also coached recreational sports through their Windsor Park Community League.
Gordon was predeceased by his sister, Norma (Bill Kinsman) and his brother, John Knight.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Mabel and his two children, Brent Knight and family in Texas and Laurie Knight (Shaun Hendy) in New Zealand as well as many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the many caregivers and family members for their invaluable support and care of Gordon.
An Internment date in the family’s plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Edmonton will be announced at a later date.
