Jim Beal died peacefully on June 8, 2022, aged 95 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. Jim began his Ministry in Penetanguishene Ontario, moved to Alberta to serve in Valleyview, Debolt, Bezanson, Fox Creek, and Clairmont, moved to Boston to fulfill the requirements for a Doctorate of Ministry, then back to Ontario (Lindsay and Kingston), and retired to Vancouver
Island where he filled in as a temporary Minister in Victoria, to retire in Mill Bay, and later Victoria once again. He moved to Hythe, Alberta and recently to Edmonton. In addition to being a United Church Minister, he started Peace Counselling Services and the Day Treatment Centre in Grande Prairie.
Jim was pre deceased by his wife Alexandria Audrey, his second wife Carol Evans and by his son Douglas (Lynn). He is lovingly remembered by his children Jeannette (Lane) and Andy (Marjie), by his grandchildren Owen (Raven), Noel (Courtney), Chloe (Kurt), Emma (Brad), Graeme, Amanda (Jeremy) Scott, and Natalie (Kyler) as well as many great-grandchildren. Jim’s humour, kindness and great spirit will be missed.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held Saturday July 9, 1:00 pm at Mill Woods UnitedChurch in Edmonton. His final resting place will be in Mill Bay, BC.
The family wishes to thank all of the Doctors and staff at the Grey Nuns hospital for their care and deep compassion, the dedicated staff at Laurel Heights Retirement Residence, as well as the kind staff and Home Care staff at Hythe Pioneer Homes, Dr. Duta in Hythe and the Beaverlodge hospital staff.
